All Creatures Great and Small and Old and Plain

We’ve been watching this show All Creatures Great and Small for a few years. Apparently, there was another one a long time ago that I ignored because I wasn’t old then.

Every time it’s on I’m constantly blinking and balking because it makes no sense. There’s this absolute goddess running the household and the three guys act all the time as if she’s ugly or at the very least unattractive. She’s beautiful.

They should all be hitting on her. As far as the two young guys, if either got lucky he’d probably learn a lot. The older guy who’s around her age is a bit of a dork and seems to be asexual so maybe he wouldn’t learn much of anything.

‘She’s old and plain in the books and in the original series,’ I’m told. I don’t care about the books and the original series. I’m watching it now and it’s complete nonsense. She’s beautiful.

And guess what’s happening this season — she has a sort of boyfriend. But because she’s supposed to be old and plain, her boyfriend is a wimpy goofball who stumbles around and scratches his head. I’m always afraid he’s going to bump into everything.

… Good news! She dumped him. To be precise, she told him they were just friends. Good.

But I’m a bit worried. The season-ending Christmas show is coming up — and you know what happens on Christmas shows. Unlike in reality, everybody gets happy and giddy and does stupid things.

I hope she doesn’t invite him over and kiss him. Yuck.
